Prerequisites: belonging to the target public, unless exempted following file review
GENERAL AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, learners will be able to use and maintain the various implanted and externalised devices in compliance with the new French Society of Hospital Hygiene (SF2H) recommendations.
In order to achieve the operational goal, learners must be able to:
• List devices’ characteristics (IPC, PICC and midline)
• Use the various devices (secured and unsecured Huber needles, prefilled saline syringes, specific care sets)
• Identify risks and implement preventive actions
• Apply SF2H recommendations on best practices regarding central venous devices (placement, use, maintenance, monitoring, indications, rinsing and positive pressure techniques, methods for removal and change, and organisation of outpatient care)
• Manage complications (infectious, thrombotic, mechanical, operational problems, and extravasation)
Inform and involve the patient and/or their circle in management of the device
• Ensure traceability of actions carried out, devices used and situations encountered, on the mediums provided
• Keep a watch on new recommendations
ORGANISATION
• 1 hour of pre-training e-learning in order to review the basics and homogenise learners’ level
• 7 hours of simulation in face-to-face training

4 scenarios
Context :
• Methods and teaching aids: expository, demonstrative, interrogative and active methods. Interactive presentations, quizzes, scientific articles, films, self-assessment, practical workshops on manipulation of devices and simulation of maintenance and use of LTIDs.
• Assessment method: online pre- and post-training MCQ. Self-assessment of operational capacity
