Training course for emergency first aid instructors

TARGET PUBLIC
• Health professionals practicing in emergency medical facilities (SAMU, SMUR, emergency facility, ICU or anaesthesia-resuscitation unit) for at least a year
• Trainers in healthcare training institutes (experience -10 years in an emergency, intensive care or anaesthesia-resuscitation unit)

GENERAL AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, participants will be able to organise level 1 and 2 emergency first-aid courses for healthcare students, and nursing, administrative and technical staff at healthcare facilities and private practices, and assess learners for delivery of certificates.
1. Mastering the content of AFGSU 1 and AFGSU 2 courses
• Mastering the content of training sequences, updated scientific proofs, regulations, First Aid Training Centres’ (CESUs) guiding principles
2. Mastering the pedagogical techniques required to deliver such training
• Educational trends, learning-by-doing methods and techniques, principles of learning by doing, learning cycle, feedback and debriefing, stages of a sequence
3. Acquiring a trainer’s approach
• Cognitive psychology, principles of andragogy, group dynamics, conflict management, motivational dynamics, principles of communication, storyboards, educational organisation, etc.
4. Knowing the principles of assessment and mastering its methods
• Analysis of cases reported by trainees and development of teaching aids
• Major principles of assessment

ORGANISATION
The course breaks down as follows:
• 1 day prior to training: revision of EFA technical procedures
• TU 1.1: 5-day seminar (3 days-2 days): pedagogy applied to emergency first aid
• TU 1.2: 3-day seminar (2 days-1 day): analysis of practices, docimology: assessment applied to emergency first aid.
• TU 1.3: 2-day seminar: pedagogy applied to the teaching of the collective risk module.
Between sessions: tutoring of two level-2 sessions (2x3 days)
