Training of health simulation instructors: introduction

TARGET PUBLIC
Health professionals, teachers and cadres at health faculties, healthcare schools and institutes, firefighters, paramedics, etc.

GENERAL AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Health simulation is a tried and tested teaching method for training health professionals.
Lorraine Virtual Hospital provides health professionals with a short training course enabling them to acquire basic knowledge on setup and implementation of simulation scenarios in compliance with French National Health Authority (HAS) recommendations.

Educational objectives:
• Interest and role of simulation in teaching health sciences.
• Theoretical bases of simulation-based teaching in healthcare.
• The basics of instructional design: from learning objective to development of scenarios.
• Discovery of high-fidelity simulators.
• Basics of and essential steps in facilitating a debriefing.
• Optional: assistance with an educational project.

This short course is excellent preparation for and a stepping-stone to the DU in Health Simulation Pedagogy.

ORGANISATION
• 6 half-days of theoretical and practical teaching divided up over 3 days of training
• 2 half-days of pedagogical monitoring in practice situations (dates to be agreed on between learners and facilitators)
